Amber Gardner appointed ARV CEO

Amber Gardner, CEO of Mt Hotham RMB, has been appointed as the inaugural CEO of Alpine Resorts Victoria, effective 1 October 2022.

Lyndsey Jackman has been appointed interim COO of Mt Hotham RMB, commencing in the role on 30 September until 31 December 2022.

Welcome to new RMB staff

Mt Hotham RMB welcomes Brendan Barnes, IT and Systems Manager. Brendan joins us from Vail Resorts, where he was IT Officer. Prior to Hotham, Brendan completed four seasons providing ICT support to Antarctic research stations and resupply voyages for the Australian Antarctic Division.

Outside of work Brendan is an avid hiker, and is regularly outdoors exploring the Victorian High Country during the green season.

ARV report by Deloitte released

Deloitte was engaged by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to identify, assess and propose a potential operating and funding model for the new statutory entity, Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV) and its Board to adopt; and develop a proposed transition plan to transition existing arrangements under the ARMBs to the new entity (ARV).

The work focussed on facilitating the continuation of existing resort services under the new ARV structure, including assessment of roles and responsibilities of the Centre and Resorts under the new structure, asset management requirements, financial projections and consideration of new revenue streams by ARV.

Moth Tracker is live for 2022!

The Moth Tracker has been launched nationally for the 2022/23 green season to help collect important information on the Bogong Moth migration and numbers.

Our own Mountain Pygmy-possum relies on the Bogong Moth for animals and ecosystems that rely on it.

Please share Moth Tracker with your networks and communities from spring through to autumn.

Reduce soft plastics going to Mt Hotham landfill

For several years now staff in the retail stores owned and run by Vail at Mt Hotham have collected the soft plastic covers from their clothing range.

They remove any labels and bundle the soft plastic for collection by Mt Hotham RMB's waste collection team. This plastic is added to the soft plastic collected by the RMB (such as clean bags used to collect recycling on the mountain), baled and sent to the RMB's recycler off the mountain.

Vail's collection significantly reduces the amount of plastic going to Mt Hotham's landfill. If you would like to ensure your soft plastics are staying out of landfill, please contact our Waste Management team by emailing info@mthotham.com.au.

Correct sharps disposal

Sharps (needles) should not be put in the normal garbage collection. Accommodation providers can request sharps disposal containers from the RMB, and we will collect them for safe disposal at the end of winter.

Please contact info@mthotham.com.au for more information.
Summer planning for property owners and managers

With the end of the snow season in just a few days, it's time to think about summer!

If you are closing your property for summer, please ensure litter is cleared from around your property and replace any fly screens that were removed during winter.

If you are planning a renovation or works to your building over summer, please contact the Property, Planning & Development department to advise your plans - via email property@mthotham.com.au.  You may need permits for activities such as clearing vegetation, renovations, covered skips or trailers on site.

Hard Waste – no hard waste should be left outside your property or put into the rubbish hutches. There are two hard waste collections over summer, after Melbourne Cup Weekend and Easter. Further information can be found on our website.
