Welcome to new RMB staff

Mt Hotham Resort Management is very pleased to welcome Gemma Kitson to our team. Gemma is our new Digital Marketing Manager, working in the Marketing & Communications team in Visitor Services, and she'll be managing our online and digital presence.

We also congratulate Katie Bowker, who has been promoted to the role of Visitor Services Director.

Expressions of interest invited for Hotham Hub at Wire Plain

Mt Hotham Resort Management Board (RMB) is pleased to announce that Expressions of Interest are now open for commercial operations located at the new Hotham Hub Snowplay and Activity facility located at Wire Plain, scheduled to commence construction after winter 2022.

The Mt Hotham RMB is inviting expressions of interest from commercial operators in any or all of the categories of retail, hospitality and snowplay (winter)/outdoor (summer) activities.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with the RMB to activate this area year-round.

Full details about the opportunity and how to submit an Expression of Interest are available on the Mt Hotham RMB website. The closing date for submissions is Sunday 28 August, 2022.

Alpine Resorts Victoria update

Recruitment for the Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV) board is nearing completion, and one of the first responsibilities of the incoming board will be the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of ARV. This process is expected to be completed by the end of August 2022.

The Governor in Council has now proclaimed
1 October 2022 as the day that Alpine Resorts Victoria will commence.

Season stats - it's a record breaker!

If you get the feeling that there's more visitors at Hotham this year than we normally have - you're right!

In the week ending 24 July, Hotham welcomed over 17,000 visitors. Our 2022 Year-To-Date number of visitors is 94,120 - 137% up on our 10 year, Year-To-Date average number of visitors.

With more snow in the forecast in early August, we don't think the interest in Hotham is going to slow down any time soon. If you'd like to see more visitor statistics, jump onto the Alpine Resorts Coordinating Council website here.

ATDW listings - expiry date extended

Visit Victoria is pleased to advise that businesses with an ATDW listing that expires between 1 July and 30 September 2022, have had their listings extended for up to 3 months without charge. Refer to your ATDW listing to see your updated expiry date.

Businesses creating a new listing can continue to access a free ATDW coupon code (up to 30 September 2022). Coupon codes are dispensed by Regional Tourism Boards - find out more here. Events and NFP organisations do not need a coupon code to be listed.

Business development: Packaging for tourism businesses

Consumers find it slow, difficult and frustrating to do all the research themselves - They want a blend of inspiration and information. Packages are a great way to show how to plan a trip to a destination, and the must-do activities.

Tania Jacobs presented to Destination Gippsland on how to develop tourism packages, and you can access this presentation on the Destination Gippsland website here.

Correct sharps disposal

The RMB Waste team recently found a sharp in the general garbage, which is not the correct way to dispose of sharps due to the risk of injury or infection.

Accommodation providers can request sharps disposal containers from the RMB, and we will collect them for safe disposal at the end of winter.

Please contact info@mthotham.com.au for more information.
COVIDSafe Settings

With the very high number of guests in the resort, it's important to maintain a focus on COVIDSafe Settings. Face masks must still be worn, for anyone aged 8 or over, on public transport (including teh Hotham village bus), in taxis/ride share services, and in tourism vehicles.

You can also access translated information on the Victorian Government site here.
