Free guided walks at Mt Hotham in January

Mt Hotham RMB is running free guided walks every weekend in January, designed to introduce guests to the pleasures of hiking at Mt Hotham.
Led by the region’s top outdoor adventure experts, there are two walks each Saturday. The morning walk over the Summit is targeted to new hikers, and the afternoon walk through the village and out to Christmas Hills suits more experienced walkers More details here.
Hiker access to Loch car park area

Works are continuing on the Alpine Gateway facility at the Loch carpark area, so there is no public parking at that location over summer.  We encourage hikers to park at the Corral car park or The Cross if they need to access the trails starting at the Loch car park, which includes The Huts Walk, Mt Loch, and the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing.

Alpine Classic - 27-28 January

The Alpine Classic Cycling Challenge is on again this weekend, so please take care if you are driving to or through Mt Hotham on the event days.

Organisers are expecting over 2000 riders for the event so travellers are likely to encounter groups of cyclists on the Great Alpine Road between Harrietville and Hotham Heights. Please drive with care and allow extra time if you are travelling on those days. There will be no road closures for the event.
Hard rubbish collection - 30 January

The next hard rubbish collection will occur on Monday 30 January. With the resort likely to be busier than normal over the long weekend, it would be appreciated if any rubbish for collection was placed outside towards the end of the weekend to minimise impact on our guests.

If you miss this collection, you can catch the last hard waste collection date for the summer on Tuesday 11 April 2023 (after Easter weekend 7-10 April).

When leaving hard rubbish out for collection, please don't put it in the garbage hutches - leave it near your property and off the road, ensuring that the rubbish is well contained and doesn't impede visitor access.

Some items can't be left for collection, so please check the Resort Management website before leaving hard rubbish for collection.

Building waste
If you are planning building works please let the RMB know by emailing property@mthotham.com.au. We need to know if you have a skip or trailer on site for building waste removal, even if you are doing Internal works that do not require a permit.

Summer maintenance

It's important that the resort is kept looking great for our summer guests as well as kept bushfire-safe, and we thank all property owners who have been vigilant about their site maintenance.

If you have not yet done summer maintenance, we remind you that you are responsible for cutting the grass on your property and ensuring there are no bushfire risks, such as firewood stored under balconies or building materials left on the site. If you are unable to visit the resort to cut your grass, Resort Management can do this for you at a cost of $105 per hour, which covers all albour and consumables. Please email info@mthotham.com.au to book this work.

Grease traps

If you have not yet checked the grease trap in your property or business, now is the time to do so. If yours needs cleaning, please contact Orme Kewish on 03 5759 3550 or OrmeKewish@mthotham.com.au to arrange for this to be done.

If you are not sure whether you have a grease trap or what needs to be done to maintain it, please contact Orme on the details above for assistance.
